Understanding whether your security device uses a built-in or removable battery is essential for maintaining and managing its power. Each model is designed with one specific battery type. In this article, we’ll explain the features of both built-in and removable batteries, so you can easily identify which one your device uses and what that means for its maintenance and performance.
Built-in Battery
Devices with built-in, non-removable batteries are designed for convenience and compactness. However, if the battery wears out over time, the entire camera may need to be replaced if it's still under warranty. When a replacement isn't feasible and the battery can no longer hold a charge, alternative power options like solar panels or AC/DC connections can be used to keep the device operational.

Warning: Replacing a built-in battery by an unauthorized end user or third-party modifications will void the warranty.
Removable Battery
Removable batteries offer flexibility, as they can be easily swapped out when needed. Whether your device is under warranty or not, you can purchase just a battery, ensuring your security system stays powered without the need for a complete device replacement

Lithium Battery Charging Safety Information
Battery Charging Safety Warning
Due to the potentially volatile nature of lithium batteries, extra care should be taken when charging the Swann battery-operated device as overheating could occur if improperly charged which could result in leakage, explosion, or fire. To ensure battery safety and reduce the risk of injury or damage, please read the charging guidelines below carefully.
Use Only Compatible Chargers
Only use chargers marked: Output: 5V, and 2.1A max current output or less. If you do not know the voltage and current of your charger, do not use it to charge your device. Do not use damaged cables or chargers, or charge when moisture is present as this could cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the device or property. Keep the device and its charger in a well-ventilated area when charging.
Avoid Charging Near Heat Sources
Don’t charge the device near cooking surfaces or electrical heating equipment such as microwave ovens, space heaters, and similar devices.
Monitor Device Temperature During Charging
The device may get warm during charging. This is completely normal. If the device becomes too hot to touch, smoke comes out of it, or gives off a burnt odor, stop charging it immediately and contact Swann Support.
Do Not Disassemble or Burn the Device
Your device and battery are integrated. You cannot remove the battery from the device. Don’t disassemble, attempt to repair or deform the battery or dispose of the device in a fire.
Battery Performance May Degrade Over Time
It is normal over time for battery life to gradually decrease with repeated charging, and for the battery to exhibit shorter runtime between charges or require more frequent or longer charging times.
Charge Regularly to Maintain Battery Health
Make sure to charge the camera at least once every three months to maintain the battery in proper working order. If the battery is not used for an extended period of time, it may become impossible to charge it.
