How to get the P2Pusername and P2Ppassword for Swann Security VMX
This article applies when manually adding a device via P2PID in the Swann Security VMX software:
Before you begin, please note:
✅ Compatible Recorder Models
The following recorder models work with Swann Security VMX:
- DVR Series: DVR4-4680XN, DVR4-4680XU, DVR4-4685XU, DVR4-5680XN, DVR8-4680X, DVR8-4680XN, DVR8-4680XU, DVR8-4685XU, DVR8-5680X, DVR8-5680XU, DVR16-4586XU
- NVR Series: NVR8-ADVANX, NVR16-ADVANX
If your recorder model is not listed above, please check one of these links and click “Applies to the listed products”:
Both software do not require a P2PuserName and P2PPassword.
✅ Step 1: Pair Your Recorder
If your recorder is compatible, you must pair it to your Swann Security account using the Swann Security app first.
- If you don’t have an account or haven’t paired your recorder yet, follow the instructions in the app to register and pair your device.

✅ Step 2: Request P2P Credentials
If your recorder is already paired to your Swann Security account:

Submit a request to our support team to push the P2P Username and P2P Password to the email address associated with your Swann Security account. Example:
