How to Playback and Export Recordings Using the Swann Security App

This guide will help you playback security recordings directly on your Swann system, export video footage for safekeeping or evidence, and playback clips stored on a microSD card.
Before you start:
- Make sure your system is powered on
- Storage (HDD or microSD) is inserted, and
- You know the date/time of the footage you want to view.
- Choose Your Phone Type

Playback
Here's how to find and play recordings in Playback tab in Swann Security for Android.
Open Swann Security app, then tap on
By default, it will show a list of today's clips from all of your devices.
- Cloud clips from your stand-alone cameras
- Local clips from your online recorder
- Cloud clips from capable recorders
Browse through the list and tap one to start playing.
DID YOU KNOW? If your account has Secure+ Unlimited Plan with more than one recorder that has Agent version 4.2 or above, but one of them is offline, you will see both local and cloud clips from the online recorder and cloud clips from the offline recorder.
You can tap 3-dot icon to:
- Change Playback View—Scrub, List, Scroll
- Playback Filter—narrow down list of clips (see next step →)
Filter the list by:
- Choosing a specific device to show
- Choosing an event type (e.g. Person, Car, Pet, etc)
- or Sort the list from earliest to latest or vice versa
Tap the SD card icon to see a list of stand-alone cameras with microSD card.
For EVO series, without a Secure+ subscription, only stores clips to its local storage.
Pick a camera to see clips stored to its local storage.

Playback (from microSD card)
Prerequisite: You must be able to stream Live View from that camera (camera awake/online). Battery-powered cameras may need a wake event (open Live View first).

By default, it will show a list of today's clips, but you can change it to your preferred date.
A list of cameras will appear, tap a camera to select.
Tap a clip to play and watch it.

Follow the instruction below to export clips using Swann Security for Android.
The interface may be different depending where you are playing the clip from, but there's always a button available for you to tap to save the clip onto your phone.
When playing clips from microSD, tap this download button to export.

If That Didn’t Work...
App isn’t responding?
- Restart the app or device.
- Check for app updates.
Clip doesn’t play or download?
- For Recorders: Choose a lower quality to play if it keeps on loading (see screenshot)
- Confirm stable internet or local connection.
- Restart the app or device.
Still stuck?
- Check your storage or device pairing status.

I can't play the downloaded clip on my phone
Use VLC player as this third-party app supports plenty of codecs and we find this more reliable than built-in video player on phones
