This guide will walk you through updating your standalone cameras using the Swann Security App on either Android or iOS devices. Keeping your camera’s firmware up to date ensures you benefit from the latest features, performance improvements, and security patches.
Before you start:
Make sure your camera is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi.
Check that your mobile device has the latest version of the Swann Security App installed.
Have a stable internet connection during the update process.
Open Swann Security app, tap on then select your standalone camera.
Right away, you will see that there is an update available.
Tap on to proceed updating.
Since the firmware update will some time, please refrain from doing the following:
Turning off your router or modem.
Disconnecting the Ethernet cable if the camera is using it to get internet connection.
Turning off the camera in any way.
The camera will go offline while updating—this is normal. Once the update is complete, the camera will be back online.

Since the firmware update will some time, please refrain from doing the following:

Special Cases
If the firmware update fails, here are common causes and fixes:
The Camera is Not Streaming Before the Update
The camera must at least be streaming to tell you that it is still working and ready for your next action—which is to update its firmware.
If you have set it to not stream when opening the app, you just need to tap on the camera on to start streaming.
If it was supposed to stream when opening the app, but it didn't, try rebooting the camera physically (since you can't do it in the app at this point).
Since the camera can stream live feed, this means there is no problem with the network connection, right? However, in some rare occasions, an unexplainable event could happen.
That said, simply rebooting the camera may help resolve this issue:
