Steps on How to Update

NOTE:
If it failed to update the firmware, proceed here →

Special Cases

If the firmware update fails, here are common causes and fixes:

The Camera is Not Streaming Before the Update

The camera must at least be streaming to tell you that it is still working and ready for your next action—which is to update its firmware.

  • If you have set it to not stream when opening the app, you just need to tap on the camera on to start streaming.
  • If it was supposed to stream when opening the app, but it didn't, try rebooting the camera physically (since you can't do it in the app at this point).

Once it streams, proceed in updating the camera again.

The Camera Streams but Fails to Update

Since the camera can stream live feed, this means there is no problem with the network connection, right? However, in some rare occasions, an unexplainable event could happen.

That said, simply rebooting the camera may help resolve this issue:

  • For Android, go to then choose your camera. Tap on then
  • For iOS, go to then choose your camera. Tap on then

Try updating again. If the update still fails, and your camera uses microSD for its local storage, troubleshoot the microSD card →

Faulty or Unformatted MicroSD Card

The update file is saved temporarily on your camera’s local storage. Here are the steps to troubleshoot if the microSD card is the cause of update failure:

Why this helps? A corrupted or incompatible card can block the update from saving correctly.

Weak Wi-Fi Signal or No Internet Connection
  • Ensure your camera has a strong and stable internet connection.
  • Move your router closer to the camera or reposition the camera to reduce interference.
  • Try updating again once the connection is stable.

Why this helps? Updates require uninterrupted data transfer, and poor Wi-Fi can cause the process to fail.

Summary & Next Steps

By following this guide, you should now be able to update your standalone camera’s firmware successfully on either Android or iOS devices.
