ISS | How to perform an in place update

Environment:
Updating ISS 5.0.1901 to 5.1.0.

  1. Verify you have the admin account password.
  2. Click Start > IDIS Solution Suite > License Tool.
  3. The Licensing Tool will appear. Currently we cannot maximize this window. Screen shot the information then scroll down to the end and screenshot it again. The serial number is the important part.
     
  4. From the desktop, click IDIS Solution Suite Setup > Service > Back Up Service Database > Enter the admin account password from the first step and click OK.
  5. Give it a file name (Example: ISS_5.0.1910) and click Save. Do not use special characters or spaces.
  6. Enter the password again and click OK. The backup will take a few minutes to complete. Click OK when prompted. There will be a file ending in *.iexp on the desktop.
  7. Download the latest version of ISS and unzip it. In this example a folder called "Expert+5.1.0" was made. Click on the Setup folder then Setup.exe. Right-click it and Run as administrator, if needed.
  8. Select a language and click OK.
  9. Select Upgrade then click Next. It will begin stopping services.
  10. The EULA will appear. Accept it then click Next.
  11. It will automatically detect the previous instances installed. Click Next.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Wait for the upgrade to complete.
  15. Click Close.
  16. Login with the admin account and click OK.
  17. Right click at the top of the window and select About. It should display the updated version.
