Why is the video quality not as good as the videos I record on my device?

Recording a video and making a video call on your phone are two very different things. In order for someone on the other side of the globe to see and hear you in a video, the video has to be compressed and encrypted first. What this means is that quality loss can't be prevented when videos are sent from one device to another.
