Environment:

  • DC-I6212WRX
  • 3rd-party device

Technical Considerations:
The IDIS intercom provides two separate outputs with very different power capacities:

  • The Relay (COM / NO/NC): This handles high power (12V / 1A) and is physically tied to Alarm Out 1, which is used for your Door Strike.
  • The Alarm Out (A.O.): This is a low-power "Open Collector" output tied to Alarm Out 2. Crucially, the intercom software only allows the Call Button to trigger Alarm Out 2 from the back of the terminal.

Proposed Solution:

To isolate the wireless Device so it only responds to the button press, we must use the A.O. terminal. However, this terminal is strictly limited to 5V and 30mA. Connecting the Device transmitter with a power source directly to this terminal will likely damage the intercom's motherboard.

Required Hardware for the Device:

  • A small 5V DC External Relay.
  • A Protection Diode (to prevent electrical kickback from the relay).
  • 5V Power Supply: A simple power source or a 12V-to-5V step-down module to power the relay coil.

Alarm:

O (Out): It is the BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor)
- open collector output. If the voltage and current
exceed the specification limit (Max. Load: 30mA,
Max. Voltage: 5VDC), the product could be
damaged. When connecting the device which
exceeds the specification limit, refer to the picture
(circuit) below.

  • If used with an external inductive load(e.g. relay),
a diode must be connected in parallel with the
load for protection. Otherwise, the product could
    be damaged.

To wire the Wireless Device circuit safely:

  1. Connect the A.O. and GND terminals of the intercom to the coil of an External 5V Relay.
  2. Place a Diode in parallel with that relay coil for circuit protection.
  3. Connect the two Switch Port wires from the Device Transmitter to the COM and NO pins of your external relay.

Software Settings

Once wired, please ensure these settings are saved in the IDIS web interface:
