This article will show you how to reset the system (including password) of a DVR-3000, 4000 or 4400. Do not perform this step if your model is not listed as it requires opening the top cover of the chassis.
Things to have
What to do
- Grab the Phillips screwdriver and remove the screws holding the cover.
a. As you can see on the sample image (DVR4-4400), only 4 screws need to be removed at the bottom. Some units have screws at the back of the side too.
b. Be careful NOT to remove the screws holding the HDD inside (shown in red circles).
- Remove the top cover (either by lifting of pulling) to see the inside. Do this carefully as some has cables connected to the cover (see next slide).
- Find the reset button. It should look like this.
- Press and hold the reset button until it beeps twice. Reboot the unit if it didn’t reboot on its own.
- Afterwards, it will now have the password 12345; for DVR-4400, it can be that or will just ask to set a new password from the customer.
- This will be useful to DVR-4400 only if resetting it makes the unit freeze and never resets after the reboot.
