This guide will walk you through updating your MaxRanger4K™ system firmware using the Swann Security app. Keeping your system up-to-date ensures you benefit from the latest security features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.
Before You Begin:
Ensure your smartphone has the latest version of the Swann Security app installed.
Make sure your MaxRanger4K™ is powered on and connected to internet.
To ensure internet connection, check if you can stream your MaxRanger4K™ cameras.
Open Swann Security app, tap on then select your MaxRanger4K™ system.
Right away, you will see that there is an update available.
Tap on to proceed updating.
Since the firmware update will some time, please refrain from doing the following:
Turning off your router or modem.
Disconnecting the Ethernet cable if the Power Hub or Base Station is it to get internet connection.
Unplugging and/or removing the backup battery of your MaxRanger4K™ system.

Special Cases
Fixing Internet Connection Issues
Ensure your router is powered on and working.
Move your MaxRanger4K™ closer to the router if it is wirelessly connected, or reconnect the Ethernet cable to ensure secure connection. Why this helps? A stronger signal reduces update failures.
Reboot your router first and once the internet connection is back, reboot the MaxRanger4K™ system.
Troubleshooting Failed Updates
Make sure your phone has the latest Swann Security app version.
Check if MaxRanger4K™ system detects its local storage (HDD or microSD). A quick way to test this if to look for recent recordings under Playback.
Ensure that the Power Hub or Base Station are still on. Power LED should be solid green.
Restart both your MaxRanger4K™ system and the Swann Security app.
