The Phone and computer are connected to the system via the serial number of the system.
Some of our system's SN is printed at bottom of DVR. While some are not but the phone and computer can detect them.
Therefore, the phone and computer can connect system fine even if there is no monitor or TV.
But we still suggest you connect the DVR to a monitor so that you can easily set up everything on the monitor instead of on the computer. Phone APP doesn't have many setting options for the system.
Besides, it will be a little difficult to connect the DVR to the phone and computer for some product models if there is not a monitor.
