NOTE: This guide is for the following recorders : DVR-1500, 1525, 1550, 1575, 4300, 4350, 4500, 4900, 8075, 8050, HDR-8050, HDR8-8200, NVR-7000, 7090, 7095, 7200, 7250, 8000

This guide is intended for customers to reset their SwannView Plus recorder when they have forgotten their password.

Requirements

Resetting the password of the recorders mentioned above requires the following: 

  1. A Windows computer with SADP Tool software. If you have not installed the software yet, see Installing SADP Tool.
  2. Recorder is connected to a router using an Ethernet cable. If you do not know how to do this, see Network Setup: To get the MAC Address.

Once you have both of the above, proceed below.

How to tell if your recorder's password can be reset using MAC address or generated code

  1. Open SADP (right-click then Run as Admin in Windows) and check if the recorder is detected. 
  2. Check the build number under Software Version.
  3. If Build is: 

    1. 160801 or later: MAC address method
    2. Build 160101 or above: use the MAC address first before trying generated code.
    3. Older or less than Build 160101: Generated code method

 

A. MAC address method

  1. Get the MAC Addressscroll to the right to see the column MAC address and take note of it. 
  2. Select the recorder (checkbox has check).
  3. Click will show then click Forgot Password.

 

B. Generated Code Method

 

  1. Tick the box (left side) of the device.
  2. Copy the Device Serial No. of the selected DVR or NVR. Remove the model number of the DVR or NVR from the code. See the example below:
    e.g. from NVR4-72000820130204BBRR416848190WCVU to 0820130204BBRR416848190WCVU
  3. Scroll to the right and take note of the current date that it will show.

    e.g.  20170808

  4. Once you get the generated code and current date, proceed to the website Hikvision Password Generator.
  5. Enter the device’s serial number and the current date. Example:
  6. Go back to SADP tool on your computer and click on Forgot Password below Modify.
  7. A small window "Restore Default Password" will pop-up. Copy-and-paste the Reset Code (case-sensitive).
  8. Click on Confirm.
  9. You will then see this message indicating that the password has been recovered which means it was restored to the default - 12345.
  10. You must set up a new password. Do not leave the password as 12345 for security reasons.
