What is Spotlight?

Spotlight is a built-in light on AlfredCam Plus 2 that illuminates the scene in low-light conditions and helps deter suspicious activity. When Activity Detection is enabled and Spotlight Control is set to Auto, the light automatically turns on when any motion is detected in a dim environment. It can also be manually turned on or off during Live Feed viewing.

The Spotlight outputs up to 200 lumens with a color temperature of 6000–6500K, providing clear white illumination at night. The illumination range is approximately 3–5 meters, depending on ambient light, camera height, and viewing angle.

Spotlight: Auto On (Recommended)

When Spotlight is set to Auto On, it automatically turns on spotlight when:

  • Activity Detection is triggered, and
  • Ambient lighting is low (Night Vision is turned on)
⚠️ Activity Detection must be turned on for Auto Spotlight to work.

To turn on Auto Spotlight:

  1. Go to the Camera Settings for AlfredCam Plus 2
  2. Tap Spotlight
  3. Turn on the Auto toggle

Spotlight: Auto Off (Manual Control)

If you prefer to manually control the Spotlight, switch to Auto Off mode. In this mode, the light does not turn on automatically and must be toggled manually during Live viewing.

To manually turn on/off  Spotlight:

  1. Enter the Live Session for your AlfredCamera Plus 2
  2. Go to the second page of the toolbar
  3. Tap the Spotlight icon to turn it on

Spotlight Settings

You can customize the brightness level and control method of the Spotlight under Camera Settings > Spotlight.

  • Spotlight Control: Auto On / Auto Off
  • Brightness Level: High / Low
    • High is recommended for outdoor use.
    • Low is recommended for indoor use.

Notes

  • When manually enabled during Live viewing, the Spotlight will automatically turn off after you leave the Live session.
  • When another Viewer changes the Spotlight mode from the Camera Settings, a message will appear:
“Spotlight setting has been changed by another Viewer.”
  • Trust Circle users do not have access to Spotlight controls in Live or Camera Settings.
  • ⚠️ If Spotlight stays on for more than 20 minutes, it will automatically enter a cool-down period to prevent overheating. During this time, the button will be disabled and show a greyed-out icon. After 3 minutes, it will return to normal, and the Spotlight will turn off.
