To ensure AlfredCamera provides continuous recording and reliable live viewing, maintaining a stable connection is essential. This guide helps you understand your camera's health and provides actionable steps to prevent disconnections.

Understanding Your Connection Stability Report

AlfredCamera now provides a Connection Stability report to help you monitor your camera’s performance over the past 24 hours. You can access this report via Camera Settings (the gear icon) or by tapping the Check button on your camera cell.

Reviewing Your 7-Day History

  • Hourly Data: The 24-Hour Connection Status chart shows your connection health in hourly blocks.
  • Switch Dates: Use the datepicker at the top of the report to switch between the last 7 days of data. This allows you to identify recurring patterns, such as specific times when your camera consistently goes offline.

How to Read the Chart (Legend)

Different block colors represent the stability of the connection during each hour. If you notice gaps in your recordings, refer to the colors below to understand why:

  • 🟢 Stable: The camera was connected for nearly the entire hour. Ideal for reliable recording.
  • 🟡 Unstable: The camera was disconnected for a small portion of the hour. You may notice minor gaps in your activity recordings.
  • 🔴 Poor: The camera was disconnected for a significant portion of the hour or lost connection entirely. Recording is significantly affected.
  • ⚪ No Data: No status was reported. Typically caused by the camera being powered off, manually disabled, or having no internet access.

Optimizing Your Network Environment

Network quality is the most common factor affecting stability. If your chart shows frequent Unstable (Yellow) or Offline (Red) bars, try the following:

  • Strengthen Wi-Fi Signal: Place your Camera device as close to the Wi-Fi router as possible. Physical obstacles like walls and furniture can significantly weaken the signal.
  • Ensure a Steady Internet Connection: If your home network is slow or shared by too many devices, Alfred may struggle to maintain a stream. Contact your Internet Provider if you experience frequent outages.
  • Disable VPNs: Using a VPN on your Camera device can interfere with its ability to maintain a steady connection with the Viewer. We recommend disabling all VPN services while Alfred is running.

Managing Device and System Settings

System-level restrictions can terminate the app or cut the connection. Ensure your settings are configured to keep AlfredCamera active:

  • Keep the App in the Foreground: AlfredCamera must stay running on the screen to prevent the app from entering sleep mode.
    •  Avoid UI Navigation: Do not press the Back, Home, or Power buttons after setting up your Camera.
    • Stay Active: Keep the app active on the screen to avoid network restrictions or app suspension.

  • Maintain Power and Temperature

    • Low battery: Keep the device charged to ensure it has sufficient power to stay connected.
    • Device overheating: Avoid placing the device in hot areas or direct sunlight to prevent performance issues.
  • System-Specific Adjustments

    • Android Devices:
      • Power restrictions: Disable battery optimization or power-saving modes for AlfredCamera to avoid network restrictions.
      • Brand-Specific Settings: If using Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, or ASUS phones, enable extra settings to keep the app running.
    • iOS Devices:

⚠️ Note: Due to privacy reasons, we’re unable to remotely jumpstart your device or wake up the Camera for you.
