The thermal image of a THERMTEC camera may be out of focus, this can be adjusted manually or automatically. There are certain models that do not have automatic adjustment, but manual adjustment is found in all models:

The above image is out of focus, by adjusting it as indicated, the improvement is noticeable:

IMPORTANT: Upgrade HM3xx cameras to version 1.3.7 (HM3_V1.3.7_2025061116), if in doubt check the following article Thermtec Camera Upgrade

This version 1.3.7 incorporates the option for the camera not to autofocus the scene when it starts "Focus Power-Off Memory", in such a way that at start-up it will check the focus motor (the focus will move) but then it will always return to the last position that had been set:

There are times when it may be that the camera is very out of focus and when you start to press focus, it seems to do nothing. This is due to the fact that the focus adjustment is off the end of the path, in this case you have to hold focus + for a while until the image begins to be focused

Other settings available in the camera are from the settings in the image section:

  • Noise filter: allows you to remove artifacts from the image, it is especially recommended to increase the default value for using external video analysis systems on which continuous detections are occurring
  • Enhancement: Digitally enhances the image. If it is being used on an analytical system external to the camera, it is not necessary to modify it or to lower it a little in case of continuous detections
