Question
Can I use different SFP transceiver models to connect two VIVOTEK switches?
Answer
You can use any combination of SFP transceiver the VIVOTEK switches supports, but there are some requirements that need to be fulfilled:
Requirement 1: Each pair of SFP modules MUST have the same fiber type (Multi-mode/ Single-mode).
Single-mode modules uses fine laser to emit information, in contrast with multi-mode modules that uses LED with lower light emission so they cannot transfer information using the same wavelength.

Requirement 2. Each pair of SFP modules MUST have the same wavelength specification.
Every SFP have its own specific wavelength which can be found in the SFP datasheet or specification webpage.

In order to work properly, both SFP used needs to have the same wavelength, if the wavelength is different both SFP wont be able to communicate between each other.

3. Connection distance between SFP modules MUST be within spec range.
Every SFP has its own distance range, it is recommended to use SFP with the same connection range, if one of the SFP modules connection range its lower, it will restrict the other SFP communication range.
