In PTZ mode, two feature interfaces are available:
PTZ Function
Smart Tracking
Note: These two interfaces are mutually exclusive. Only one can be active at a time.
1. PTZ Function
The PTZ Function interface provides the traditional PTZ controls and basic automation features. It supports simple operations triggered by a single AI event. Typical functions include:
Preset operations
Cruise
Group
Trace
Task
Alarm
Home Position
However, the PTZ Function interface does not support:
Multi‑preset AI event handling
Automatic tracking across multiple presets
2. Smart Tracking
The Smart Tracking interface introduces advanced PTZ behavior. This interface is used when the camera needs to perform:
Multi‑preset AI detection
Automatic tracking
Patrol cycling with event‑based triggers
Manual PTZ Control Priority: Enabled it, the user can control the PTZ even the PTZ is doing auto tracking, cruise, etc, which means manual has the highest priority.
PTZ Auto Tracking Priority: Enabled it, the user can not control the PTZ when it is doing auto tracking, cruise, etc which is unlike Manual PTZ Control Priority.
Patrol: Patrol corresponds the Cruise function in PTZ Function page, which the user can set multi-presets with ai event and auto tracking. The PTZ will cruise in different presets at certain time intervals and perform event tracking in each preset.
Linkage: Linage is used for some scenes when many different cameras are set to trigger PTZ different presets via alarm linkage. The PTZ will be called to the corresponding preset and can continue to trigger PTZ AI event and auto track targets.
Auto Homing: It is a time value, the time it takes for the PTZ to return to the checking position after the target disappears from the screen when the PTZ is triggered the alarm and do auto tracking.
Still Time: It is a time value, the time it takes for the PTZ to return to the checking position after the target comes to a complete stop in the screen when the PTZ is triggered the alarm and do auto tracking.
Manual PTZ: It is a time value, the time it takes for the PTZ to return to the checking position after the user manually control the PTZ moving.
Checking Position: It is a selection which used to replace the home position in PTZ function page. Because Smart Tracking and PTZ Function are mutually exclusive, so we have to add a new button which is same as the home position; The user need to add the presets in the Smart Tracking page.
Test Scenario Example
The following example demonstrates a Smart Tracking Patrol setup:
Scenario Requirements
The camera performs a Patrol across several presets.
At Preset 1 (Door), a line crossing rule (A → B) is configured with Trigger Track enabled.
After tracking is complete, the camera must:
Return to the Checking Position (Preset 1)
Resume the Patrol sequence
Configuration Steps
1. PTZ Function
Go to PTZ Function.
Create and save the required preset positions.
Open Smart Tracking.
*
Set Working Mode to Patrol.
*
*
*
*
Add presets to the Patrol list.
Set the dwell time (the time the camera stays at each preset).
3. Event Configuration
Configure the detection rules for each preset according to your scenario.
