Answer

To set up alarm notifications for a Vivotek camera connected to VORTEX Connect, please follow the steps below to complete the configuration.

 

Note: Only accounts with organization owner or administrator roles can set up alarm management.


Step 1: Set up the VCA configuration via the NVR Settings Page

1-1. After adding the NVR to the VORTEX Portal, go to the "Devices" page on the left panel and select the NVR you want to access.

 

1-2. Click "NVR settings" and enter user name and password to log in, as shown in the picture.

 

1-3. After accessing the NVR settings webpage, click "Camera > Smart VCA detection" in sequence, and then select the camera for which you want to set up the VCA configuration.

 

1-4. Click the "Add" button to create a new rule.

 

1-5. After selecting a "detection type", click the "Select" button.

 

For the "Intrusion detection" type, draw the "detection area", select the "target objects", "trigger conditions", and then click "Apply" to save the settings.

 

1-6. If needed, you can click the specially marked area in the image to edit the schedule (the default is "Always").

Step 2. Set up Alarm Notification on the VORTEX Portal

2-1. Go to the “System" page on the left panel, click "Alarm Management > Add Alarm" in sequence to configure the settings.

 

2-2. Select the detection type you have already set as rules on the NVR webpage under "Video Content Analysis events," then click "Next."

 

2-3. After clicking "Select sources" to choose the sources that trigger Device & System events, click "Next."

 

2-4. After selecting the actions to take when the alarm is triggered, choose the recipients for these actions and click "Next."
In the example below, if the alarm is triggered, these four organization members will receive "Mobile notification" and "Email notification."


Note: Only users within this organization can be set as recipients.

 

2-5. Schedule when the alarm should occur as shown in the image below, then click "Next."

 

2-6. Review the "Summary" to verify that the alarm settings are correct. If so, click "Save" to successfully set the alarm.


Step 3. Check if You Can Receive the Alarm Notification When the Detection Rules Are Triggered

If the detection rule you set is successfully triggered, you will receive notifications—like those shown in the images below—on the "Message center" page, the configured "Email," and via push notifications sent to the configured VORTEX App account.
